Have You Heard of Tourmaline Far Infrared Therapy?

While Tourmaline Far Infrared Therapy is known in Asia, it is not so well known in the West. This is a Q and A that can answer commonly asked questions.

1. What Does FIR Stand for?
FIR stands for Far Infrared Ray.

2. What is Meant by Far Infrared Ray?

The Spectrum of Light Showing Where Far Infrared is, beyond the visible red color

Far infrared rays are a part of the sunlight spectrum that is invisible to the human eye. The complete spectrum of sunlight consists of visible and invisible rays. The visible rays are red, orange, yellow, green, indigo, blue, and violet in color. The invisible rays are Ultraviolet, X-rays, Gamma, Cosmic, Microwave, Long Wave, Electrical Wave, and Infrared.

Electromagnetic waves between visible light and the microwave are called infrared waves. The wavelength of infrared waves ranges from 0.76 microns to 1,000 microns. This range is further subdivided into the ranges of Near, Medium, and Far-Infrared Rays with following wavelengths: 0.76 to 1.5microns; 1.5 to 4 microns; and 4 to 1,000 microns respectively.

3. How Can A Fiber Emit Far Infrared Ray?

How can the bio-ceramic emit far infrared? Will there be any side effects? Actually, the principle is very simple. It is a well-known fact that the human body constantly emits thermal energy –that is, heat. When the bio-ceramic is stimulated by the thermal energy of the human body, it converts it into the far infrared rays and reflects it back into the human body.

So the far infrared ray emitted by the far infrared fiber is really powered by our own body and there are no known side effects. This is similar to a luminous dial on a watch. When light hits the dial, the dial will send out light, which is seen in the dark. When body heat hits the bioceramic, the bioceramic reflects heat back.

4. What Does FIR Do?

The FIRs whose wavelength falls between 4 to 50 microns are also commonly called Biogenetic rays. Biogenetic rays have been shown to promote the healing and growth of living cells, especially in plants, animals, and human beings. All of the FIR products we make emit FIR with wavelength concentrated between 8 to 15 microns.

5. How Can FIR Heal the Human Body?

One of the reasons that FIR has beneficial results in a variety of illnesses is because FIR can deeply penetrate the skin and underlying tissues. When FIR penetrates the skin, they come into contact with protein, collagen, and fats. By stimulating micro-vibrations, FIR can elevate tissue temperatures. The human body then can be revitalized because of the improved microcirculation.

Another reason is that FIR can remove toxins in the body, which are often at the core of many health problems. The buildup of toxins in a healthy body could block the normal blood circulation and impair cellular energy.

When FIR waves are applied, the water molecules that encapsulate the toxins heat up and start to vibrate. This vibration reduces the ion bonds of the atoms that are holding together the molecules of water. As the breakdown of the water molecules occurs, encapsulated gases and other toxic materials are released, and the body gets rejuvenated.

In addition, FIR also improves human health through the following functions:

  • Rejuvenates the skin and muscle tone
  • Increases oxygen in the blood cell
  • Promotes regeneration and fast healing
  • Improves the autonomic functions of the nervous system
  • Reduces fatty acids in the tissues
  • Increases metabolism between blood and tissue

6. What Symptoms Are FIR Products Effective For?

FIR products have been shown to have therapeutic effects on many chronic health symptoms. Enumerating all of them here might be difficult. However, the following list contains some of the symptoms that have been shown to respond very well to FIR products:

  • Arthritis
  • Muscle pain and spasm
  • Shoulder or joint stiffness
  • Raynaud’s syndrome

With long sleeve shirts and long john bottoms, FIR products have also been shown to speed up weight loss, improve the immune system, and overall health.

7. What Is Microcirculation?

capillary microcirculation

Capillary Microcirculation

Microcirculation refers to the flow of blood through the vascular network lying between the arterioles and venues, includes capillaries, metarterioles, and arteriovenous anastomoses. The main function of microcirculation is to bring in oxygen and nutrition and ship out carbon dioxide, lactic acid, and metabolic production.

8. How Long Until I Feel the Effects?

Time taken to feel the effect varies on the symptoms one has, the products one uses, and personal health condition. One may start feeling the pain-relieving impacts of a knee band immediately, while others wearing our garments may take several weeks to notice the profound whole-body results.

Is it possible that one may not feel anything using these products? That depends on the individual’s health needs; sometimes, the effects of our products are more subtle. If you do not feel anything by using our FIR products, your body may be healthier than others. In such a case, using FIR garments will provide the benefits of long term preventative therapy.

9. How Often Can I Use FIR Products?

Our FIR health products can be conveniently used as often as you like, and as long as you like. Our products are very comfortable to wear, and many people use them for 8 – 10 hours a day.

10. Any Side Effects of FIR Products?

There are no side-effects from using FIR products. As the body gets rid of old toxins in the body, some individuals may experience some initial detoxification symptoms. This is usually a good sign that the healing effects of the FIR garment are working and may be expected. If you continue experiencing prolonged symptoms, discontinue using the product, and contact your physician.

Will FIR product interfere with my Heart Pacemaker? No, FIR products are non-magnetic. FIR products will not adversely affect your pacemaker.

11. What Are FIR Products Made From?

FIR products are made from man-made fibers impregnated with micro-particles of bio-ceramic powder. FIR products are made from fibers with this advanced technology.

12. What Specifically Are “Bio-ceramics”?

The bio-ceramics used in the FIR production are a special kind of natural lead-free stone, and minerals (like Silica Oxide (SiO2).

13. What is the FIR Wavelength of This Product?

The recommended length of the Far Infrared wavelength is 8-15 Microns. This is the wavelength that can easily be absorbed by the body.

14. Is There Any Medical Proof?

There have been numerous studies on the therapeutic effects of FIR products. One clinical study done by Dr. Gordon Ko and Dr. David Berbrayer at Sunnybrook and Women’s College Health Science Centers at the University of Toronto, published in the August 2002 issue of Alternative Medicine Review “Journal of Clinical Therapeutics,” showed that there are significant improvements in both subjective measures of pain and discomfort associated with Raynaud’s Syndrome.

In another study done by Hideyoshi Toyokawa and others in Japan using rats, was published in the journal, Experimental Biology, and Medicine; it showed that the FIR could improve wound healing significantly.

15. Are FIR Products Washable?

Yes, FIR health products are washable: It should be hand washed or washed in a gentle cycle with cold water. Detergent or mild soap can be used. Air dry in room temperature and avoid drying in the dryer or direct sunlight. Do not dry clean, iron, or bleach.

16. Any Age Limit for Using Far Infrared Heat?

There is no age limit for using this product. In fact, FIR is needed from the day you were born until old age.

17. How Does Tourmaline Far Infrared Heat Relate to a Far Infrared Sauna?

Far Infrared Sauna and Far Infrared Clothing are two complementary products. While a far infrared sauna is designed to give people a short period of intensive far infrared therapy, the far infrared clothes are designed to give people an extended period of a low dose of far infrared energy. It allows people to benefit from far infrared anytime, anywhere. You could use both products together to obtain the maximum benefits.

18. How Long Does a FIR Product Last?

The product can last anywhere between 12 to 18 months, depending on how often you wear and wash it. After that, the FIR effect of the fabric starts to fade away.

19. How do you choose between a jade and tourmaline heating mat?

If you suffer from chronic pain and medication and other alternative treatments haven’t been working out for you, then you are probably on the search for something new. An infrared heating pad uses Far Infrared heat and negative ion therapy with jade and tourmaline to heal and help relieve pain.

Jade emits farther infrared heat, boosts the body’s immune system and circulation, improves the body’s energy level, and reduces bruising, pain, and swelling. In ancient culture, jade was also used to radiate positive energy during healing and protected the heart, kidney, spleen, and thyroid and was believed to strengthen the body.

Tourmaline emits more negative ions, improves blood circulation, helps detox the body by eliminating toxic metals, and it supports the liver and kidneys. Tourmaline has also been used to reduce intestinal as well as skin problems, help support oxygen exchange in the blood, improve circulation, and help the autonomic nervous system.

The properties of the two are almost the same, so it might be hard to determine which one helps with pain relief more than the other. So, you need to decide if you want more negative therapy or more infrared effects, and that is how you can decide between the two.

20. What are the biological effects of FIR?

Biological structures include cells, cell membranes, cell fluids, and DNA, and proteins. To use FIR applications in medicine, you need to have an understanding and intense knowledge of its interactions with these different structures. When diving further into this, you will find that water content plays a vital role in the interactions between FIR and living organisms. The size and temperature of the water can affect the absorption spectrum of FIR.

21. What are some medical applications of FIR?

FIR, or biogenetic radiation, is popular and is used as a therapeutic modality. It is used in the treatment of pain, including back pain, chronic pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, and more. It is often a more high-quality and cost-effective solution for some.

22. Are there any other means through which FIR radiation is delivered?

There are three main techniques used for the delivery of FIR radiation. These are FIR saunas, FIR ray devices, and FIR emitting ceramics and fabrics.

In FIR saunas, the heating elements usually heats to around 300-400 degrees Celsius, and the emission is in the FIR range. FIR ray devices are common. They are typically used every day, and many have been found to have reduced symptoms of exercise-induced muscle damage.

FIR emitting ceramics and fabrics are applied to the body and have been found to help improve one’s quality of sleep. There have also been gloves used by arthritis patients to help with the pain and the treatment of Raynaud’s Syndrome.
